Brendan Bottcher announces new curling team

Another Canadian curling shakeup

Edmonton skip Brendan Bottcher has put together a new curling team of Olympic medallists.

The team, which includes 2014 Olympic gold medallist Brad Jacobs, 2018 Olympic silver medallist Marc Kennedy and 2022 Olympic bronze medallist Brett Gallant, was announced Monday.

Bottcher, who skipped Team Canada to a bronze medal at the 2021 world championships, said in a statement that he is "excited to start this new chapter" in his curling career.

"I have a lot of respect for Brad, Marc and Brett, and I know that we can accomplish great things together," Bottcher said.

The new team will be based out of Edmonton and will compete in the Grand Slam of Curling series and other major events.

Bottcher's former team, which included Darren Moulding, Brad Thiessen and Karrick Martin, announced last month that they would be parting ways at the end of the season.

The shakeup is the latest in a series of changes to the Canadian curling landscape in recent months.

Last month, Team Kevin Koe announced that they would be disbanding after the 2022 season.

And earlier this year, Team Brad Gushue announced that they would be adding former Olympic champion Mark Nichols to their lineup.

The changes are a sign of the increasing competitiveness of Canadian curling, and they are sure to make the upcoming season one of the most exciting in recent memory.
